About Us

The store was founded in 1998 by Patrick & Patricia Niles in West Bend, Wisconsin. In October of 2000 we moved the business to Historic Downtown Cedarburg, just 20 miles north of Milwaukee. ( a link to www.cedarburg.org) Together with Patricia’s extensive background in baking and Patrick’s 40 years experience in managing retail stores and their mutual love of baking, the store was an instant hit.

Downtown Dough provides a large selection of over 1,400 cookie cutters along with cookie stamps, cookie molds, colored sugars and decos, baking supplies, kitchen gadgets, pottery and cookie jars and many other kitchen related products.

Our award winning frozen cookie and bread dough are produced for us by some of the best bakeries in the Midwest. We maintain a certified four star master baker as our product consultant and all products go through a rigorous series of test for quality, ingredients, and of course taste. Our line of par-baked breads use all certified organic natural ingredients with no fats or sweeteners added. Sugar cut-outs are available in various shapes for every major holiday. In December 2004 our sugar cut-out dough was rated as “excellent” by the food editors of the Milwaukee Journal Newspaper.
They went on to say “now this is a sugar cookie, it taste really good”.

....

In 2002 the store was featured in the December issue of Good Housekeeping Magazine. Since then our cookie cutters have been used for feature articles in other Good Housekeeping issues and RedBook and Parents Magazines. Recently, we designed and built a custom cookie cutter of the Cinderella Castle for the Disneyland Anniversary Celebration.

Today, as we continue to grow, Pat Jr. has joined the business (yes there are Three Pat’s working here), the work force is rounded out by other family members working part time and dedicated employees. We firmly believe in our community and Patrick serves on several boards of local non-profit groups.

Watch for new products and other exciting changes in the future at Downtown Dough as we continue to strive to make this the source for everything related to making cookies and more!
